An Assam court on Friday (October 3, 2025) ordered a 14-day police remand for Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta, both members of singer-composer Zubeen Garg’s band, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the artist’s death.
Munna Prasad Gupta, the Special Director General of Police for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), confirmed to PTI that the local court’s decision sends the duo to police custody for further questioning.
“The interrogation of all four arrested accused is currently underway. I am unable to share any more details at this moment,” Gupta stated.
Goswami and Mahanta were taken into custody on Thursday following several days of intense interrogation.
Both individuals were reportedly aboard a yacht in Singapore on September 19, the day Garg tragically died while swimming in the sea.
Authorities had previously invoked murder charges against Garg’s manager, Siddharth Sharma, and festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta, who were apprehended in Delhi on Wednesday.
