On Friday, October 3, 2025, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made a significant move ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections by directly transferring ₹2,500 crore into the bank accounts of 2.5 million women across the state. This substantial financial assistance, amounting to ₹10,000 for each woman, was provided under the innovative Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, aiming to foster empowerment and economic stability.
The impactful program, held at the Chief Minister’s Office in Patna, saw the presence of both Deputy Chief Ministers, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, underscoring its importance to the state leadership.
This initiative by CM Nitish Kumar follows a similar large-scale effort by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Just a week prior, on September 26, 2025, PM Modi had transferred a massive ₹7,500 crore into the bank accounts of 7.5 million women nationwide via video conferencing from Delhi, highlighting a broader trend of direct financial support for women.
