Speaking at the annual Vijayadashmi rally, which also celebrated the organization’s centenary, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat stated that the global response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack clearly revealed the true nature of India’s international friendships.
Mr. Bhagwat emphasized that while India strives for friendly international relations, national security demands heightened vigilance and strength. He noted that the varying stances of nations following the Pahalgam incident served as a stark indicator of their genuine support for India.
He recounted the tragic Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, where cross-border terrorists reportedly targeted and killed 26 Indians based on their religious identity. This heinous act, he stated, was met with a decisive response from India through ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The incident provoked widespread pain and anger across the nation. Bhagwat lauded the government’s preparedness and resolute counter-action, highlighting the unwavering determination of the leadership, the bravery of the armed forces, and the unified spirit of Indian society in the aftermath.
The RSS chief affirmed that extremist elements have been decisively dealt with by the government, and society has also distanced itself from their hollow ideologies. He expressed confidence that these elements would be controlled, signifying the removal of a significant obstacle in the region.
Addressing the unrest in neighboring nations such as Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, Bhagwat cautioned that such widespread upheavals inevitably lead to instability.
He stressed the importance of a people-centric government to prevent such chaos, while also noting that expressions of public dissatisfaction, if not channeled constructively, can be detrimental. He invoked B.R. Ambedkar’s concept of ‘Grammar of Anarchy’ to describe movements that bring instability rather than progress.
Bhagwat further linked the emergence of extremist forces to a deficiency in government schemes aimed at ensuring justice, fostering development, promoting goodwill, and upholding societal sensitivity and strength.
He concluded by stating that individuals frustrated by systemic lethargy often gravitate towards extremist groups. To counteract this, he urged collaborative efforts between the state and society to implement initiatives that restore public faith in the system.
Former President Ram Nath Kovind graced the event as the chief guest.
