A potentially dangerous situation was successfully diffused in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district earlier today when a live mortar shell was discovered in a forward village situated along the Line of Control (LoC).
The unexploded ordnance was first spotted by vigilant villagers in an open field within the Naka Panjgarian area. They immediately reported their find to local police and army units, triggering a rapid response.
Officials confirmed that a specialized bomb disposal squad from the Indian Army was promptly deployed to the site. The experts meticulously worked to safely neutralize the mortar shell, which is believed to have originated from across the border during an episode of cross-border shelling that occurred as part of ‘Operation Sindoor’ in May.
