Israel’s ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, expressed his gratitude to the Indian government for endorsing the US-backed peace plan aimed at resolving the Gaza conflict. Ambassador Azar suggested that India, recognized as a ‘new builder of the world,’ has the potential to play a significant role in developing infrastructure across the West Asian region, including both Israel and Palestine. He noted that Indian companies have already shown interest in contributing to infrastructure projects in Israel and could extend this to the Palestinian territories.
These remarks were made shortly after US President Donald Trump presented a 20-point peace proposal for the Gaza conflict, following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the plan, describing it as a ‘viable pathway to long-term and sustainable peace, security and development’ for the region.
India has consistently supported a two-state solution for the Israel-Palestine conflict. The ambassador emphasized that the international community, including Muslim nations and India, backs the peace plan, fostering hope for reconstruction and deradicalization. He stated that if Hamas rejects the plan, Israel would continue its military operations until the group is dismantled, preferring a diplomatic resolution but prepared for military action if necessary.
