The Dehradun district of Uttarakhand experienced a harrowing Monday night, September 15, 2025, as relentless heavy rains caused widespread flash floods in the Sahastradhara area. Roads sustained significant damage, prompting the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to launch extensive rescue operations to save those trapped by the surging waters.
Tragically, two individuals have been reported missing following the devastating floods in the Uttarakhand region. Amidst the chaos, the SDRF successfully evacuated over 100 people, including many students from the Devbhoomi institute, bringing them to safety.
Adding to the grim reports, news agency PTI confirmed that a bridge was completely washed away in the deluge, and a separate fatality was recorded in the hill station of Mussoorie, further highlighting the severity of the weather event.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed the unfolding crisis via a post on X (formerly Twitter). He stated, “Received the sad news of some shops getting damaged due to heavy rains in Sahastradhara, Dehradun, late last night. District administration, SDRF, and police have reached the spot and are engaged in relief and rescue operations.”
In a subsequent post, also in Hindi on X, the Chief Minister assured the public: “I am constantly in touch with the local administration in this regard and am personally monitoring the situation. I pray to God for everyone’s safety.”
