The Andhra Pradesh Finance Department has made a crucial decision to settle outstanding bills for numerous small contractors, particularly those who have been patiently waiting for payments on work completed between 2014 and 2019.
Under this initiative, contractors who undertook projects valued up to ₹5 crore will receive full payment for their pending bills. This also extends to those who completed smaller-scale works, up to ₹5 lakh, ensuring that a broad spectrum of small businesses benefits from this clearance drive.
Following direct instructions from the government, the Finance Department has already commenced processing these payments, totaling an impressive ₹400 crore. This effort is part of a broader push by the newly formed NDA government to address and clear a series of payments that had been left in limbo by the previous administration.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly urged the Finance Department to accelerate this process, aiming to ensure that the funds are disbursed promptly, ideally before the upcoming festive season. Officials from the Chief Minister’s Office have confirmed that the money will be directly credited into the contractors’ bank accounts within a few days.
