The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA), working closely with Karkhana Police, recently executed a raid on an unauthorized establishment in Namalagundu, Secunderabad. This operation, launched on Friday, October 17, 2025, followed intelligence reports indicating the illicit sale of prescription medications. The illegal premises was found to be operated by a person identified as M. Naresh.
During their swift intervention, officials confiscated a total of 66 vials of ‘Termiva’ and ‘Termin’ injections. Both products contain Mephentermine Sulphate (30 mg/ml), a powerful cardiac stimulant. A statement from the DCA revealed that these injections were being unlawfully stored and distributed to gym enthusiasts, who were reportedly using them for bodybuilding and to illegally boost their physical performance.
It’s crucial to understand that Mephentermine Sulphate Injection is a strictly prescription-only drug, reserved for hospital use to manage hypotension (low blood pressure) that can occur during spinal anesthesia in surgical settings. This medication works by stimulating the release of noradrenaline, which in turn elevates cardiac output and constricts blood vessels, effectively raising blood pressure. Authorities issued a strong warning, emphasizing that this drug must only be administered under direct medical supervision, as improper use carries a high risk of severe, even fatal, cardiovascular complications.
DCA officials further highlighted a growing trend: the stimulant properties of Mephentermine are being alarmingly exploited by certain gyms and individuals. They are misusing the drug in an attempt to unnaturally boost endurance and enhance overall physical performance, disregarding the profound health risks involved.
