Fans and admirers will have the opportunity to pay their final respects to the late singer Zubeen Garg at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex, commonly known as Sarusajai Stadium, in Guwahati. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the venue will be open for public tributes on Sunday, September 21, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Elaborate arrangements are being made to manage the expected crowds and ensure the occasion is conducted with dignity.

The Assam government has declared a three-day period of state mourning from September 20 to September 22 in the wake of Zubeen Garg’s death. During this time, official entertainment and public celebrations will be suspended.

Condolences have poured in from across the nation. Large numbers of fans have already gathered outside Zubeen Garg’s residence in Guwahati, eagerly awaiting a final glimpse of their idol.

Zubeen Garg tragically passed away in a scuba diving accident in Singapore on Friday. He was in the city to participate in the North East India Festival, where he was scheduled to perform on September 20. Known for his versatile contributions to Assamese, Hindi, and Bengali music, Zubeen Garg left behind a rich legacy, including the widely popular song ‘Ya Ali’ from the film ‘Gangster’. A cabinet meeting will be held on Sunday evening to finalize the cremation details.
