Major Leak: Yakuza Kiwami 3 Details Emerge from Studio Website
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is gearing up for its annual showcase next week, where they plan to unveil exciting new projects. However, it seems their next Yakuza title might have prematurely slipped into public view right on their own website. Based on a now-deleted listing, Ryu Ga Gotoku is reportedly developing Yakuza Kiwami 3. The developer has not officially confirmed the game, but an announcement now seems highly probable at next week’s RGG Summit.
Reports from social media indicate that Yakuza Kiwami 3 was briefly mentioned on Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s website on Wednesday. Although the listing was quickly removed, remnants of it could still be found in Google search results, generating buzz among fans. This unexpected reveal also garnered attention on a popular Yakuza fan community forum. A user on X (formerly Twitter) shared a screenshot on September 17, 2025, confirming the brief appearance of “Yakuza Kiwami 3” on the studio’s website.
Neither Sega nor RGG Studio have made any official announcements regarding the next installment in the popular Like a Dragon/Yakuza series. An official confirmation is now widely expected at the upcoming RGG Summit next week, which is scheduled to be livestreamed just before the Tokyo Game Show 2025 begins.
Previous titles, Yakuza Kiwami (released in 2016) and Yakuza Kiwami 2 (released in 2017), served as successful remakes for the first two Yakuza games. Both action-adventure remasters faithfully retold the original stories while introducing significant visual upgrades, quality-of-life enhancements, and fresh gameplay mechanics. They also expanded on the narrative with new story elements to enrich the experience of Yakuza 1 and 2.
It’s highly probable that Yakuza Kiwami 3 will follow suit as a remake of Yakuza 3, which originally debuted on the PlayStation 3 in 2009. A remastered version of Yakuza 3 was previously released in 2018.
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio also has plans to bring Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 to the Nintendo Switch 2. During Nintendo’s Partner Showcase in July, the Japanese developer announced these two remakes are slated for release on the Switch 2 on November 13, 2025.
RGG Studio is currently juggling multiple exciting projects. Beyond this new Yakuza installment, they are actively developing the action-adventure title, Stranger Than Heaven, and a fresh Virtua Fighter project. Both of these were initially unveiled at The Game Awards 2024, and the upcoming RGG Summit is anticipated to provide further updates on their progress.
Ryu Ga Gotoku’s most recent game was Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, a spin-off from the main Like a Dragon saga, launched in February of this year. The last core installment in the series, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, came out in 2024.
The RGG Summit will be broadcast live on Sega’s YouTube and Twitch channels on September 23 at 8 PM PDT (which translates to September 24 at 5 AM CEST or 8:30 AM IST). Immediately following the main summit, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will also host an RGG Direct presentation, offering a deeper look into the games announced during the primary showcase.
