Xiaomi 18 Pro Could Boast Dual 200MP Cameras, Leaks Suggest

Just a few months after the launch of the Xiaomi 17 series in China in September 2025, whispers about its successor are already making rounds. The upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro is rumored to introduce some truly remarkable camera enhancements. According to a reliable tipster, the Chinese manufacturer is currently experimenting with dual 200-megapixel cameras for a compact 6.3-inch flagship phone, widely believed to be the Xiaomi 18 Pro.

Unpacking the Xiaomi 18 Pro’s Camera Capabilities

The details emerged from a Weibo post by the well-known tipster Digital Chat Station. While the post didn’t explicitly name the phone, it strongly suggested that Xiaomi is developing two 200-megapixel camera sensors for a compact 6.3-inch device, leading many to believe it’s the highly anticipated Xiaomi 18 Pro.

The specific functions of these two powerful sensors are still under wraps, but speculation suggests one could act as the primary wide-angle camera, while the second 200-megapixel sensor might be dedicated to advanced telephoto or periscope telephoto zoom photography. This would represent a significant leap forward in smartphone imaging.

To put this into perspective, the current Xiaomi 17 Pro features an impressive Leica-tuned triple rear camera system. This setup includes a 50-megapixel Light Hunter 950L primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide shooter, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens offering 5x optical zoom.

If these leaks prove accurate, Xiaomi would join a select group of Chinese OEMs embracing dual 200-megapixel sensors. Notably, Oppo is also rumored to be implementing a similar setup in its forthcoming Oppo Find X9s and Find X10 Pro models.

While the focus of the current leaks is primarily on the cameras, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and its larger sibling, the Pro Max, are expected to anchor the top tier of Xiaomi’s next-generation smartphone portfolio.

Previous reports have indicated that Xiaomi plans to standardize several premium features across the entire Xiaomi 18 series. This could mean all models in the lineup will include a periscope telephoto lens – a feature currently reserved for the Xiaomi 17 Pro, Pro Max, and Ultra models. Furthermore, the Xiaomi 18 series is also expected to incorporate a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, wireless charging, and enhanced waterproofing across all its devices.

It’s important to remember that Xiaomi has yet to make any official announcements regarding the Xiaomi 18 Pro series. We anticipate more concrete information to emerge as we approach the expected launch window, likely in the second half of 2026.
