China has officially unveiled the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, the world’s highest bridge, to the public. Located in the Guizhou province, this engineering marvel spans an astonishing 625 meters (2,050 feet) above the canyon floor. The opening of this bridge marks a significant achievement in infrastructure, as it is expected to cut travel time between the canyon’s two sides from a lengthy two hours down to a mere two minutes.
Earlier this year, the bridge underwent rigorous testing, including being driven over by 96 trucks to verify its structural integrity. These tests confirmed its readiness for public use.
The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge has not only secured the title of the world’s highest bridge but also that of the largest span bridge constructed in a mountainous region. Guizhou province, often referred to as the “world’s bridge museum,” is already home to a significant number of the globe’s highest bridges, and this latest addition further cements its reputation.
