Hundreds of websites and applications, spanning popular gaming and entertainment sectors, experienced significant outages and service interruptions on Monday.
The incident saw widespread reports of issues across dozens of major online platforms. Independent internet outage trackers highlighted disruptions affecting giants like Amazon, Venmo, Hulu, McDonald’s, and Coinbase, among many others.
The underlying reason for these disruptions was not immediately clear. However, several affected businesses, including the prominent cryptocurrency platform Coinbase, attributed the problem to Amazon Web Services (AWS), a leading provider of cloud computing infrastructure. Amazon itself did not release an immediate comment on the situation.
In a statement released on X, Coinbase announced, “We’re aware many users are currently unable to access Coinbase due to an AWS outage. Our team is actively working to resolve the issue and will provide further updates here. Rest assured, all user funds remain secure.”
This is an evolving situation, and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
