On Friday, October 10, 2025, the White House expressed its disapproval of the Nobel Prize committee’s decision to grant the prestigious peace award to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, rather than U.S. President Donald Trump.
White House spokesperson Steven Cheung took to X (formerly Twitter) to assert, “President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will.”

The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace.

Cheung’s statement concluded with a direct accusation: “The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace.” The Norwegian Nobel Committee, in bestowing the annual award upon Venezuela’s Maria Corina Machado, had commended her as a “courageous defender of freedom who rises and resists” authoritarian leadership.
President Trump has consistently championed his own candidacy for the prize, and notably, earlier this week, he announced a significant ceasefire and hostage deal aimed at resolving the conflict in Gaza.
While Mr. Trump has yet to directly address the Nobel decision, he did share three videos on his Truth Social account Friday morning, showcasing supporters celebrating the newly brokered Gaza agreement.
