WhatsApp is currently developing an exciting new feature for its Android application, designed to significantly improve how users discover and manage content. According to WABetaInfo, a reliable source for WhatsApp updates, the Meta-owned messaging platform is rolling out a refreshed interface to a select group of users. This update will allow them to easily review photos, videos, and other shared content within their chats using new filter options. It will also include a dedicated filter to quickly search for and retrieve stickers.
New Filters for Media on WhatsApp
WABetaInfo first revealed these new filtering capabilities in WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.25.31.10. While this is identified as a compatible update, some users might find themselves able to test it out even with a slightly older version of the app. It appears that Meta Platforms is preparing this feature for a broader release in a future update.

The screenshot shared by the feature tracker showcases a redesigned ‘Media, Links, and Documents’ section located on the chat info page. While this section still provides an overview of all content shared in a conversation, the key improvement lies in the addition of new filters aimed at streamlining content discovery.
Users will soon be able to choose from ‘Photos,’ ‘Videos,’ ‘Documents,’ and ‘Links’ – categories that are now presented as distinct filter chips rather than traditional tabs. Crucially, a ‘Stickers’ filter will also be available, enabling users to quickly locate specific stickers shared within a chosen conversation. This enhancement promises more precise control over content discovery, making it much easier to pinpoint particular items among various media types.
WABetaInfo confirms that these new filter options are still under development and are exclusively accessible to beta testers enrolled in the Google Play Beta program. As is typical with such new features, the rollout will likely be phased, meaning not all users will see it immediately, even after installing the latest WhatsApp for Android Beta update. A wider testing phase is expected in the coming weeks.
