WhatsApp is developing an innovative new feature that will allow channel administrators to interact with their members in a fresh and engaging way. This upcoming tool, tentatively named ‘Channel Quiz’, is expected to significantly boost engagement by encouraging friendly competition among users. While an official announcement from the company is still pending, insights from a feature tracker have provided a clear idea of how this new functionality will work, following its discovery and testing in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update.
Channel Admins Could Soon Create Interactive Quizzes
According to WABetaInfo, a reliable feature tracker, this new quiz feature was observed after an update to WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.30.5. Unlike standard polls, this feature offers enhanced capabilities, specifically designed to test members’ knowledge on various topics.
Imagine a channel dedicated to automobiles: an admin could create a quiz asking members to identify the first petrol-powered car. Screenshots shared by the tracker indicate that the quiz creation option will be accessible via the attachment menu within the chat window. Tapping on it will bring up a new ‘create quiz’ interface, where admins can input their quiz question in the initial field, followed by multiple-choice answers.

This screenshot suggests that channel admins will have the flexibility to provide at least five answer options for each quiz. Furthermore, the instant messaging service is likely to support both text-based and image-based options for answers.
Once a quiz is finalized, it will be shared directly into the channel as a regular message. Channel members and even visitors will be able to participate by clicking on a ‘check mark’ next to their chosen answer.
Immediately after a selection, the quiz card will reveal the correct answer, providing instant feedback. WhatsApp is expected to roll out this exciting Channel Quiz feature in a future update, following further rigorous testing and refinement by beta users.
