In a significant announcement for job aspirants in West Bengal, the state government is gearing up to release a notification for the recruitment of 13,421 primary teacher positions. Education Minister Bratya Basu shared this promising update, stating that the notification will be issued immediately following the Durga Puja celebrations. This move is expected to bring much-needed cheer to thousands of teaching job aspirants across the state during the festive season.
Under the initiative of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal State Primary Education Council is set to commence the recruitment process for these 13,421 vacancies. “The Council will begin the recruitment process right after the Puja! Best wishes in advance to all job seekers,” Minister Basu conveyed via a social media post.
This announcement comes in the wake of the recently published results for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2023. The West Bengal Board of Primary Education declared the results on September 24. Out of the 2,73,147 candidates who participated in the TET 2023 examination, only 6,754 candidates, or approximately 2.47 percent, have successfully qualified, as per a board official.
While candidates who cleared the 2022 TET exams are still awaiting interview calls, some had previously protested, claiming a shortage of 50,000 vacancies in primary and upper primary schools. The Education Minister addressed these claims, asserting that the Board will soon provide official notification regarding the filling of all vacant positions, thereby clarifying the recruitment process.
