Get ready for a fresh beat! The popular Japanese musical unit, WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA, has just unveiled a vibrant music video for their latest track, “wo ai ni.” Meaning “I love you” in Chinese, this catchy pop tune is set to become the exhilarating opening theme for the upcoming second season of the beloved TV anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s timeless romantic comedy manga, *Ranma 1/2*.
Fans can now enjoy both the full “wo ai ni” music video and a special creditless version of the *Ranma 1/2 Season 2* opening sequence, offering a sneak peek into the anime’s exciting visuals. WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA, formed in 2013, has a history of contributing to popular anime, including theme songs for *Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun* (2022), *Ramen Akaneko* (2024), and the upcoming *KOWLOON GENERIC ROMANCE* (2025).
The song “wo ai ni” was specially written and composed for the anime by WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA’s talented producer, Hidefumi Kenmochi. It is featured on the unit’s most recent fourth EP, “Kawaii Joshi” (meaning “Cute Girl”), which was released in Japan on September 24. The EP’s charming “Kawaii Joshi” CD jacket complements the unit’s unique aesthetic.
Following a successful 12-episode first season in the fall of 2024, the second season of the *Ranma 1/2* anime is slated to premiere in Japan on October 4, 2025. For global audiences, Netflix will be streaming the series worldwide.
The original *Ranma 1/2* manga, a masterpiece by Rumiko Takahashi, was serialized by Shogakukan in their *Weekly Shonen Sunday* magazine from August 1987 to March 1996. VIZ Media also publishes an English-language version of the series for fans outside Japan.
The newest TV anime adaptation boasts an impressive team: Konosuke Ueda directs the series at the renowned animation studio MAPPA, with Kimiko Ueno handling the series composition, Hiromi Taniguchi designing the characters, and Kaoru Wada composing the music. VIZ Media’s description of the first volume of the original *Ranma 1/2* manga perfectly captures its essence: “Years ago, Genma promised his old friend Soun Tendo that Ranma would marry one of Soun’s three daughters and carry on the family’s martial arts school. Except that the girl picked to be Ranma’s bride doesn’t seem to like him, Ranma keeps getting into fights…and did we mention that whole changing into a girl thing?”
