My fascination with tabletop role-playing games is well-known. Whether I’m botching rolls in Vampire: The Masquerade or conjuring chaos with Mage Hand in Dungeons and Dragons as an aasimar bard, TTRPGs are a huge part of my life. During TennoCon 2025, Digital Extremes unveiled exciting news: Warframe is partnering with Paizo to launch a new Starfinder one-shot adventure, themed around the game’s mysterious 1999 universe. This module, ‘Operation Orias,’ launched just in time for Halloween, and it even comes with some stunning dice that are absolutely irresistible.
For those unfamiliar with Starfinder (or even Pathfinder, a travesty!), both games draw inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons’ third edition and utilize the classic D20 system found in games like Baldur’s Gate 3. While Pathfinder embraces a high fantasy setting, Starfinder plunges players into a full-fledged space game, peppered with elements of magic. An upcoming virtual installment, Starfinder: Afterlight, is also anticipated for 2026.
This Warframe collaboration makes perfect sense, given Digital Extremes’ expansive massively multiplayer online game is set predominantly in space, with the Duviri Paradox adding a touch of fantasy. Operation Orias, however, transports players to the game’s 1999 universe – a grittier, Metal Gear Solid-esque world that captured my imagination years ago. In this short, one-shot adventure, you’ll play as one of four ‘Protoframes’ (humans afflicted with the virus that creates Warframes), and I’m eager to dive in.
A thrilling trailer provides a glimpse into Operation Orias, showcasing its atmosphere and gameplay.
The premise of Operation Orias is straightforward: the nefarious Corpus faction is causing trouble, and it’s up to you to stop them. They’ve captured Infested Chargers, dog-like creatures carrying the deadly Infestation virus, with the goal of developing a new medicine from their tissue. This medicine would grant their agents increased immunity to toxins, providing a significant advantage in battle and massive profits. ‘The Hex’ team is tasked with thwarting these plans.
Players can choose from four distinct Protoframe ‘classes’: Amir, known for ‘hit and run’ tactics; Aoi, who excels in ‘communication and situational awareness’; Arthur, the ‘reckless’ poster-boy wielding a longsword; and Lettie, the squad’s medic, providing ‘support for her allies.’ While these are the initial characters for Operation Orias, community developer Connor Neumann expressed his hope that players will collaborate with their Dungeon Master to create and embody their own unique Protoframes within any desired universe.
True to its Warframe origins, this module is designed to reflect the game’s signature fast-paced and relentless action. A quick review of the rulebook confirms that all characters can perform a ‘Bullet Jump’ (a 25-foot leap followed by a freefall), alongside various versions of the game’s classic ‘Energy Shield.’ These mechanics are easily transferable to other Protoframes, and since all character abilities are inspired by their in-game counterparts, it encourages creative collaboration with your DM to bring personalized characters to life.

As a devoted D&D enthusiast, I’ve yet to explore Starfinder, but Operation Orias feels like the perfect opportunity. You can acquire your copy for $12.99 for a physical edition or $8.99 for the PDF. Be aware that physical copies are limited to 2,000 prints. Each purchase also includes a Starfinder-inspired glyph.
But wait, there’s more! For fellow dice hoarders, a stunning seven-piece dice set, complete with all standard D&D dice and a Warframe-themed tray, is available for $39.99 / £31 (yes, it’s currently in my shopping cart!).
If Operation Orias rekindles your desire to ‘bullet jump’ back into the Origin System, remember to check out available Warframe codes for free cosmetics. Alternatively, if your loyalty lies with Dungeons and Dragons, explore a wide selection of great D&D games for PC.
