Acclaimed actor Satish Shah, beloved for his memorable performances in shows like “Sarabhai vs Sarabhai” and films such as “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro,” has passed away at the age of 74. The actor, who had been battling kidney failure and had recently undergone a transplant, was found unresponsive at his residence on October 25. Despite the immediate efforts of medical professionals, including CPR administered en route to and at P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre in Mumbai, resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
Shah, a versatile performer with a career spanning over four decades, was a household name in Indian entertainment. His portrayal of Indravadan Sarabhai in the hit sitcom “Sarabhai vs Sarabhai” remains a fan favorite, while his comedic timing in “Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi” and his memorable role as a corpse in the cult classic “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro” are also widely celebrated. He also made significant contributions to films like “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” “Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!”, and “Main Hoon Na.”
JD Majethia, creator of “Sarabhai vs Sarabhai,” shared with Hindustan Times that Shah had been facing health challenges in recent months following a kidney transplant, which later led to an infection. Shah’s extensive body of work and his significant impact on Indian cinema and television will be remembered for years to come. The entertainment fraternity and fans have expressed their deep sorrow and offered condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
