The upcoming romantic comedy ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, starring Varun Dhawan, is slated for release on October 2. This date coincides with the much-anticipated ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, helmed by and starring Rishab Shetty. With both films set for a simultaneous release, fans are naturally curious about the potential box office competition.
During a recent X (formerly Twitter) session titled #Varunsays, a fan directly asked Dhawan if he felt apprehensive about the clash, posing the question, “Kantara se darr nahi lag raha (Aren’t you scared of Kantara)?”
Dhawan responded with a pragmatic outlook: “Release date toh production wale set karte hain. Par hum buss apni film pe mehnat kar rahe hain aur logo ko hassane ki koshish. I wish Oct 2nd, everyone is laughing and smiling and celebrating (Release dates are decided by the production team. We’re just focused on working hard on our film and trying to make people laugh).”
He also candidly discussed the underperformance of his previous film, ‘Baby John’, which featured Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi. When asked if it was his first flop, Dhawan admitted, “Haan yaar, nahi chali. Sabne bahut mehnat ki. Isiliye SSKTK ki script totally nayi hai. Hopefully, aap sabko maza aayega Oct 2 ko (Yeah, it didn’t work out. Everyone worked very hard. That’s why Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari has a completely fresh script. I hope everyone enjoys it on October 2).”
‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ vs. ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’
‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ boasts a star-studded cast including Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Akshay Oberoi, and Maniesh Paul. The film’s plot centers around Varun and Janhvi’s characters attempting to make their respective ex-partners (played by Sanya and Rohit) jealous, promising a blend of romantic chaos and comedy.
Conversely, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, a prequel to the highly successful 2022 film ‘Kantara’, delves deeper into the original’s folklore and mythology. The film features Rishab Shetty in the lead role, supported by Gulshan Devaiah, Rukmini Vasanth, and Jayaram.
With both films targeting an October 2 release, audiences will face a delightful dilemma, choosing between a romantic comedy or a journey into myth and mystery.
