In a significant update that’s sure to thrill fans, The Chinese Room, developer behind Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, has announced that two prominent vampire clans, Lasombra and Toreador, will no longer be locked behind a paywall. Players will now have the freedom to choose from six unique vampire clans right from the game’s launch this October, enriching their experience without additional cost.
Previously, the Lasombra and Toreador clans were designated as premium content, only accessible through the ‘$22 Shadows and Silk’ add-on pack or bundled with the pricier deluxe edition, alongside the ‘Santa Monica Memories’ DLC. This monetization strategy had sparked considerable concern among the community. Responding to the strong fan feedback, The Chinese Room confirmed they were re-evaluating their plans and are now making these popular clans available to all base game owners.
Clans are a foundational element in the Vampire Bloodlines universe, each boasting distinctive identities and unique skills for players to master. While Bloodlines 2 offers a flexible system to unlock diverse faction skills, it typically demands more resources, such as collecting special blood from high-value NPCs. However, powers intrinsically linked to your chosen clan are significantly easier to acquire, emphasizing the impact of your initial selection.
Looking ahead, The Chinese Room has also unveiled two new Story Packs slated for a 2026 release: ‘Loose Cannon’ and ‘The Flower and the Flame’. These expansions will offer fresh narratives, allowing players to explore the dark depths of Seattle through the eyes of Camarilla Sheriff Benny Muldoon and Primogen Ysabella Moore. Both Story Packs will be included as part of the Premium Edition’s Expansion Pass.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is scheduled to launch on October 21 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
