2XKO Character Roster
Here are all the 2XKO characters officially revealed so far:
- Warwick
- Teemo
- Blitzcrank
- Vi
- Jinx
- Braum
- Ahri
- Darius
- Ekko
- Yasuo
- Illaoi
Warwick
Warwick, officially confirmed in the 2XKO cinematic after a brief leak, is joining the launch roster, bringing the total to 11 fighters. While cinematic footage isn’t always indicative of in-game scale, we can infer that Warwick will be one of the larger characters. Typically, larger fighters have limited mobility, but Warwick is renowned for his speed in League of Legends, so it will be interesting to see how this translates to the fighting game arena.
Teemo
Depending on who you ask, Riot has brought a little devilry to 2XKO with Teemo. Don’t let his small Yordle stature fool you; Teemo is a true menace on the battlefield, designed to harass opponents with clever survival tools, explosive mushrooms, and a disruptive blow dart. Teemo will be the tenth champion to join the roster when the game enters early access this October.
Blitzcrank
Blitzcrank, 2XKO’s inaugural grappler champion, made his powerful debut in September’s closed beta. This character is built for raw destruction, equipped with all the tools needed to punish any opponent who dares stand still. Expect command grabs that will make your foes think twice!
While his substantial size limits his natural mobility compared to other characters, Blitzcrank compensates with alternate methods for engagement. His signature grapple hook can pull unsuspecting opponents from across the screen, ensuring that even distant enemies aren’t safe. With the aid of assists, closing the gap won’t be an issue for this heavy hitter.
Vi
Punch your way to victory with Vi, 2XKO’s premier boxing champion. Vi not only delivers powerful blows but also boasts incredible agility thanks to her unique footwork, allowing her to fluidly weave in and out of engagements. She can deploy her Blast Shield, an electric dome that shocks anyone foolish enough to attack it, creating prime opportunities for Vi to unleash devastating combos.
Vi also features the game’s first mashable super: Crater Maker. This ability allows her to repeatedly slam her fists into the ground, serving effectively as both an OTG (off-the-ground) and an anti-air attack. Given her immense popularity as a League of Legends champion, Vi’s inclusion in 2XKO comes as no surprise.
Jinx
Armed with a formidable purple minigun, a massive hammer, and a rocket-firing pistol, Jinx is fully equipped to take down any challenger. Her minigun is perfect for countering aggressive enemies, launching them skyward for your teammate to capitalize with a combo. Additionally, her strategically placed traps can halt enemies in their tracks, creating openings for you to move in for the final blow after they are knocked back.
Jinx was initially showcased during the game’s early days as Project L, though she disappeared from promotional material as significant changes were made. As one of League of Legends’ most iconic and beloved characters, her eventual return to the 2XKO roster was a welcome, if not surprising, addition.
Braum
Braum, currently the largest character in 2XKO, wields an enormous, indestructible door as a shield, offering unparalleled protection for himself and his allies in combat. His assist attacks are uniquely protected, allowing him to absorb a single hit of damage without interruption, forcing opponents to carefully consider their attacks. A single misstep, and Braum can effortlessly disrupt a block string, turning the tide of battle in an instant.
Braum is also the only character capable of freezing opponents with his shields, opening up unique combo opportunities for his team. His entire kit revolves around his ‘unbreakable’ mechanic, where his shield gains an icy layer based on the abilities he uses. This ice layer allows him to absorb one attack during specific moves. Opponents can remove this effect by knocking Braum down or by landing a heavy or ultimate attack.
Ahri
Ahri’s Foxfire projectile is a versatile tool, enabling her to extend combos or pressure opponents from a distance. She can store up to three charges at once. Her Foxfire special can be deployed as a bomb or unleashed as a powerful barrage when all three charges are active. While this requires a brief recharge period, it can be efficiently managed once an opponent is knocked down.
Spirit Flares, assigned to Ahri’s Special 2 button, grants her exceptional mobility. Unlike other characters, she can air dash in any direction, making her 2XKO’s equivalent of Magneto from the Marvel vs Capcom series. This air dash also functions as an attack, which can seamlessly transition into combos. Additionally, her Overhead Spike offers another variant, activated from the air or while crouching by pressing the Special 2 button.
Darius
As the heavy hitter of the roster, Darius boasts powerful attacks that can pull enemies in from a distance and even apply the ‘Wounded’ status ailment. While wounded, Darius deals bonus damage to enemies, even if they are blocking. To remove this effect, the opponent must successfully hit either Darius or his teammate.
Darius specializes in special moves with wide reach and significant impact, though they often have a slower startup. Therefore, pairing him with a character who can initiate combos quickly with fast jabs before swapping Darius in for massive damage is often the most effective strategy.
Ekko
Ekko introduces unique movement technology to the game. While not as universally versatile as Ahri’s, his Air Hop offers a swift forward dash that excels at closing distances. He is also one of the simpler characters to learn, featuring only three core special moves. His Special 1 is a standard projectile that slows enemies at mid-range, leaving them vulnerable to follow-up combos.
The true complexity of Ekko lies in his afterimages, which are left behind after using any of his Special 2 attacks. These allow him to rewind time, instantly warping back to that precise location. Holding down Special 2 empowers these afterimages, providing even greater versatility than their standard counterparts.
Yasuo
Yasuo is a character defined by numerous follow-up options to his special moves, particularly his Quickdraw Stance. He can seamlessly cancel into this stance from any of his special attacks, giving him flexible ways to extend or end combos. These options include several mobility-focused moves, allowing players to consistently outmaneuver their opponents.
While his other moves are more conventional, often with one or no follow-ups, his Wind Wall attack offers a crucial defensive and offensive utility. It can destroy incoming projectiles, and with a timely follow-up, Yasuo can even fling the projectile back at his opponent. This makes him an excellent counter to zoning strategies.
Illaoi
Illaoi is fundamentally a rush-down character, utilizing her golden totem to summon her Kraken friend. These spirit tentacles serve to distract opponents, creating openings for Illaoi to close in and maintain her combos. While the tentacles themselves are vulnerable, Illaoi possesses ample methods to avoid taking damage. Special 2 summons these ethereal creatures, while Special 1 grants precise control over when the tentacles attack.
Her supers are also quite impactful. Her first super grabs and repeatedly slams her opponent into the ground. Her second super, likely to see more frequent use, summons gigantic tentacles or converts existing ones into larger variants, making them much harder for opponents to avoid. Her ultimate serves as a powerful combo ender, boasting invincibility on startup, which makes it an excellent reversal option. Any opponent caught by this ultimate is directly sent to the Kraken Nagakabouros for immense damage.
2XKO Character Leaks
One thing you can almost always count on with Riot is that 2XKO characters will likely be leaked ahead of schedule. We’ve seen this happen with much of the current cast, so don’t be surprised if more leaks emerge as the game’s full release draws closer.
Developers frequently send out surveys to players, which sometimes inadvertently reveal details about upcoming characters. Back when the game was still known as Project L, Riot distributed a survey in 2022 that listed several champions and asked players about their relationship with each one. Below is a list of characters who appeared in that survey but have not yet been officially confirmed:
Here are all the leaked 2XKO characters we know about:
- Akali
- Ezreal
- Karma
- Kindred
- Lux
- Rengar
- Riven
- Senna
- Sett
- Thresh
- Samira
- Zed
The most recent leak came from the Brazilian 2XKO X account, showcasing a variety of new skins and, notably, Warwick. Aside from Warwick’s introductory cinematic, this leaked video didn’t reveal any gameplay for the monster. Warwick’s reveal raises questions about the accuracy of the 2022 survey, as he was not among the initial characters listed.
2XKO has been in development for several years, and during this time, we’ve seen pre-release footage featuring unreleased characters. Katarina, for instance, was included in early Project L material, suggesting a strong possibility that she could make her way into the game at some point.
2XKO Mechanics
Before jumping into your first battle, it’s crucial to understand the various unique mechanics featured in 2XKO:
- Dynamic Save – If your Dynamic Save meter is full, your partner will instantly jump in and repel the enemy mid-attack, even if they were knocked out. This action also tags your ally character into the fight, unless they are already knocked out.
- Fuse – Chosen at the start of a match, each Fuse provides a unique, match-long effect:
- 2X Assist – Your partner can unleash two assists consecutively instead of just one.
- Double Down – Combine your level 1 ultimate attack with your partner’s level 1 ultimate, then tag them into the action.
- Fury – When your character’s health drops below 40%, you gain bonus damage and access to a special dash cancel move.
- Freestyle – Execute a Handshake tag twice within a single combo sequence.
That covers all the currently revealed 2XKO characters and their abilities. Be sure to keep an eye on our 2XKO playtest guide to find out when you can experience this exciting upcoming game before its official release!
