When Does the Next Dead by Daylight Update Drop?
Get ready! The next Dead by Daylight chapter is set to unleash its horrors on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 9 AM PDT / 12 PM EDT / 5 PM BST.
This launch date aligns perfectly with Behaviour’s standard schedule: a three-week gap between the Public Test Build (PTB) and the official live release. Don’t miss out on exclusive chapter-themed DBD Twitch drops! They’ll be available starting an hour before the update, at 8 AM PDT / 11 AM EDT / 4 PM BST, when the chapter’s developer stream kicks off.
Chapter 37 promises a colossal overhaul, bringing significant changes to several existing characters—most notably Michael Myers—alongside brand-new ‘slugging’ prevention mechanics and an exciting new Survivor. We’ve highlighted the most impactful changes for you below.
Meet the Next Terrifying Killer
Update 9.2.0 proudly introduces a brand new Killer to the fog! While officially unnamed, strong rumors suggest it will be The Krasue, a chilling figure from Thai folklore. Picture this: a disembodied female head, her viscera trailing behind. This description perfectly aligns with recent leaks depicting a young woman’s head separating from her body, leaving nearby survivors slowed and forced to witness her horrifying metamorphosis. Truly a nightmare brought to life!
This information largely stems from community leaks and subtle official teasers. For instance, a neon sign glimpsed in a recent promotional video, when translated, spells out ‘Krasue.’ The remainder of that video further hints at a young woman undergoing a grotesque transformation into a monstrous entity.
Significant Slugging Mechanic Overhaul
In officially confirmed news, the much-anticipated ‘slugging’ mechanic update is finally making its debut in this PTB! As detailed in the recent patch notes, Survivors will now have the ability to pick themselves up from the dying state if they’ve been left on the ground for more than 90 seconds. Even better, Survivors can now crawl and heal simultaneously, essentially granting them Tenacity and Unbreakable as base kit abilities. This is a game-changer!
While these changes might be fine-tuned after the PTB, we believe the 90-second timer strikes a perfect balance for both Killer and Survivor gameplay. A shorter duration could lead to Survivors deliberately baiting Killers, while a longer one would continue the frustrating ‘boring gameplay’ experience for downed players.
The Shape (Michael Myers) Rework
Although several Killers, including The Clown and The Unknown, are receiving significant updates, the most monumental changes are finally arriving for The Shape, Michael Myers himself!
Michael Myers’ signature power is undergoing a complete transformation: ‘Evil Within’ is gone. Instead, The Shape now begins the trial with ‘Stalker Mode’ and ‘Pursuer Mode’ activated by default, requiring no charge-up. As Myers observes Survivors in Stalker Mode, his ‘Evil Incarnate’ gauge fills, empowering him with increased movement speed and the terrifying ‘Slaughtering Strike’ lunge attack. In this enhanced state, he can also ‘Mort’ (instantly kill) players, but only if they were already on their final hook stage.
Currently, we only know that his add-ons are being ‘reworked.’ However, we’re eagerly hoping for substantial adjustments to the notorious ‘Tombstone Myers’ playstyle!
Dead by Daylight PTB Schedule
Please note: This particular PTB was closed prematurely due to significant community concerns regarding the initial slugging and tunneling changes. Expect to see these reworked mechanics reappear in a future Public Test Build.
Although this PTB showcased the exciting new Killer, The Krasue, and a new Survivor, it’s currently uncertain if we’ll have another chance to test them before the official launch. It seems unlikely.
How to Access and Play the Dead by Daylight PTB on Steam
Follow these simple steps to download the latest Dead by Daylight Public Test Build on Steam:
- Right-click on Dead by Daylight in your Steam library.
- Select ‘Properties’ from the context menu.
- Navigate to the ‘Betas’ tab.
- From the ‘beta participation’ drop-down menu, choose ‘public-test’.
- Allow Steam to redownload the game files for the PTB.
Your progress from the main Dead by Daylight game is safely retained! However, please note that any Bloodpoints spent, Bloodweb progression made, or characters unlocked within the PTB will reset to your last saved point from the live game once you switch back to the release version.
