Mahindra and Mahindra has officially rolled out the refreshed and updated 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift across the Indian market. Enthusiasts will be thrilled to learn that prices kick off at a competitive Rs 9.99 lakh for the 1.5-liter diesel RWD MT variant, extending up to Rs 16.99 lakh for the premium 2.2-liter diesel 4×4 AT model.
This latest iteration of the Thar isn’t just a cosmetic update; it brings a host of enhancements both inside and out, alongside a more comprehensive features list. Interestingly, unlike its predecessor, the 2025 version foregoes the soft-top option at launch.
Prospective buyers can secure their new Thar by booking online or visiting their nearest Mahindra dealership, with deliveries expected to commence shortly. While the entry-level price is now Rs 32,000 lower than the outgoing model’s starting point of Rs 10.32 lakh, the fully-loaded Thar LXT 4WD AT sees a slight increase, now priced at Rs 16.99 lakh – Rs 38,000 more than the previous version’s Rs 16.61 lakh tag.
On the exterior, the 2025 Thar proudly sports a body-colored grille and a revamped dual-tone front bumper. Two exciting new color options, Tango Red and Battleship Grey, have been introduced to further personalize your ride. Beyond these fresh touches, the SUV retains its iconic silhouette, carrying over the familiar headlights, tail-lights, and robust 18-inch alloy wheels from the earlier model. A practical addition to the rear is a parking camera, neatly integrated into the spare wheel hub, accompanied by a rear wiper and washer for improved visibility.
Step inside, and you’ll immediately notice the cabin’s significant refresh. The updated Thar now features a sophisticated all-black dashboard, a new steering wheel, and for the first time, rear AC vents to ensure comfort for all passengers. Power window switches have been smartly repositioned onto the doors, enhancing accessibility. Both front occupants will appreciate the new individual armrests, complete with built-in storage. Technology-wise, the SUV boasts a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen system, which now includes an enhanced off-road display suite for those adventurous excursions. Safety has also been prioritized with the inclusion of a rear-view camera, rear wiper, and washer, making it more user-friendly than ever before. Convenience is further boosted by a redesigned fuel lid, which can now be opened via a dashboard-mounted button, eliminating the need for a key.
Under the hood, the mechanical heart of the Thar remains as capable as ever, with no changes to its powertrain options. Buyers can choose from a powerful 152hp 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, an efficient 119hp 1.5-liter diesel, or a robust 132hp 2.2-liter diesel engine. The existing gearbox options are also carried forward. The 2.0-liter petrol continues to offer a 4WD option, while the more potent 2.2-liter diesel comes standard with 4WD, ensuring its legendary off-road prowess.
