DJI has officially launched the Mini 5 Pro globally, introducing a groundbreaking mini drone that promises advanced aerial photography and videography. Currently available exclusively in the European Union with two distinct combo options, specific details regarding its release and pricing in other regions, including the US, are still under wraps.
A standout feature of the DJI Mini 5 Pro is its claim to be the world’s first mini drone, weighing approximately 250g, to incorporate a 1-inch CMOS camera sensor. This innovative design choice significantly enhances its imaging capabilities. Beyond its impressive camera, the drone is equipped with ‘nightscape omnidirectional obstacle sensing’ for safer flights in various conditions, supports vertical shooting ideal for social media content, and boasts a versatile 225-degree gimbal rotation.
Pricing and Availability in the EU
The DJI Mini 5 Pro is priced at EUR 799 (approximately Rs. 83,000) in the EU. For those seeking more comprehensive packages, DJI offers two combo options:
- DJI Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo (with DJI RC-N3 remote controller): EUR 999 (around Rs. 1,04,000)
- DJI Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo (with DJI RC 2 remote controller): EUR 1,129 (approximately Rs. 1,17,000)
The drone can be purchased directly from DJI’s official website and through authorized online and offline retailers in the EU. To further protect investments, DJI is providing a Care Refresh protection plan, allowing owners to replace their drone up to twice within a year if it sustains accidental damage beyond repair.
Key Specifications and Features
At the heart of the DJI Mini 5 Pro is its sophisticated camera system. It features a 50-megapixel 1-inch CMOS camera sensor, offering an 84-degree field of view, a 24mm focal length, and a wide f/1.8 aperture for excellent low-light performance. The camera also includes a 48mm Med-Tele mode, expanding its creative possibilities.
When it comes to video, the Mini 5 Pro is capable of shooting stunning 4K videos with up to 3x digital zoom, and full-HD videos with an impressive 4x zoom. For photographers, it captures images in both 12-megapixel and 50-megapixel resolutions, though the 3x digital zoom is limited to the 12-megapixel setting.
As a true mini drone, its design is compact and portable. Unfolded with propellers, it measures 255×181×91mm. When folded for transport without propellers, it shrinks to a mere 157×95×68mm, and weighs just 249.9g, making it incredibly easy to carry.
Powering the Mini 5 Pro are two battery choices: a standard Intelligent Flight Battery with a 2788mAh capacity, and an Intelligent Flight Battery Plus boasting 4680mAh. These options provide varying flight times:
- Intelligent Flight Battery: Maximum 36 minutes, typical 21 minutes.
- Intelligent Flight Battery Plus: Maximum 52 minutes, typical 33 minutes.
With the smaller battery, the drone can reach a maximum takeoff altitude of 6,000m. In S mode, utilizing the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus, it achieves a maximum horizontal speed of up to 19m/s, an ascent speed of up to 10m/s, and a descent speed of 8m/s. DJI highlights that with the higher-capacity battery, the Mini 5 Pro can cover an impressive flight distance of up to 32km, perfect for extensive aerial exploration.
