The upcoming Kannada web series Maarigallu is set to premiere on ZEE5. Directed by Devraj Poojary, this series is anticipated as a supernatural folklore thriller. The creators recently released a trailer, building excitement for its launch.
Set in the 1990s within a village near Sirsi, Maarigallu unravels as a group of villagers stumbles upon an ancient clue, pointing towards a long-lost Kadamba-era treasure. What begins as a hopeful quest for immense fortune quickly descends into chaos, driven by greed, betrayal, and fear. These intense human emotions inadvertently awaken forces far beyond ordinary comprehension. As the lines between ancient superstition and stark reality begin to blur, the narrative dives deeper into a haunting mystery, carefully guarded by the passage of time and an ethereal, divine presence.
Maarigallu is scheduled to premiere on ZEE5 on October 31, 2025. The series features a talented ensemble cast, with acclaimed actors Rangayana Raghu and Gopal Krishna Deshpande, alongside Praveen Tej, making their debut in the web series format. They are joined by television actor Ninaad Hrithsa, Prashanth Siddi, and AS Suraj, promising compelling performances.
The series is proudly produced by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, carrying forward a legacy of storytelling. Behind the scenes, the series boasts stunning cinematography by S.K. Rao, an immersive musical score by L.V. Muthu and L.V. Ganesh, and intricate sound design by Ravi Hiremat, all contributing to its mysterious atmosphere.
Director Devraj Poojary shared his vision, stating, “Maarigallu is a story deeply rooted in the rich cultural soil of Karnataka. It’s a narrative that explores belief, the corrupting influence of greed, and the unseen powers that profoundly shape human destiny. My intention was to craft a tale that feels both authentically real and profoundly mystical, where the dense forests, ancient folklore, and unwavering faith intertwine and come vividly to life. Every frame of this series is imbued with a sense of devotion and an undercurrent of dread.”
Ashwini remarked that Maarigallu holds a special significance for them. “It continues PRK Production’s commitment to bringing powerful, culturally rooted stories from Karnataka to a broader, national audience. This series is a masterful blend of culture, deep-seated faith, and raw human emotion, presented in a way that feels both traditional and remarkably contemporary.”
