There’s no shortage of chills to be had during the spooky season, but when it comes to pure horror, nothing comes close to the work of Junji Ito. The famed mangaka has a prolific body of work, ranging from body-horror series to adaptations examining the power of the human psyche and so much more.
For those seeking unsettling and beautifully grotesque terror, a vast majority of his printed works are currently available at discounted prices. This includes deluxe editions of popular series like Uzumaki, Gyo, and Tomie, along with the newly released story collection, Moan.
Highlighted Junji Ito Manga Deals:
Uzumaki 3-in-1 Deluxe Edition (Hardcover) – $20 (was $35)
Widely considered Ito’s masterpiece, Uzumaki is a horrifying tale exploring the concept of spirals. It features elegantly terrifying art and a slow-burning story. Set in a small Japanese coastal town, the story follows young protagonists Kirie Goshima and Shuichi Saito as they investigate the hypnotic secret shape of the world. This release collects the entire manga series into a single 648-page hardcover edition and includes several color inserts.
Tomie Complete Deluxe Edition (Hardcover) – $19 (was $35)
Another critically acclaimed series from Ito, Tomie centers on a mysterious and beautiful woman named Tomie Kawakami. Published from 1987 to 2000, these stories revolve around the seemingly immortal succubus Tomie. She manipulates people into jealous fits of rage that inevitably lead to vicious acts of violence. Though frequently killed, Tomie simply resurrects herself to continue spreading her curse. This hardcover edition collects the entire saga across 752 pages.
Gyo 2-in-1 Deluxe Edition (Hardcover) – $19.20 (was $25)
One of Ito’s stranger works, Gyo follows a couple fighting for survival against a horde of undead fish with metal legs. These creatures also spread a toxic virus known as the “death stench,” which has dark origins dating back to World War II.
No Longer Human (Hardcover) – $23.48 (was $35)
An adaptation of Osamu Dazai’s novel, No Longer Human was serialized from 2017-2018. All three volumes are included, inverting the original story with a dark tale of ostracization, mental instability, and suicide. While many of Ito’s series focus on supernatural horror, No Longer Human is a deeper exploration of how the human psyche itself can be even more terrifying than any monster.
Moan: Junji Ito Story Collection (Hardcover) – $20 (was $25) | Released October 7
This collection features six short stories from Ito, including: Supernatural Transfer Student, Moan, Blood Orb Grive, Flesh-Colored Mystery, Near-Miss, and Under the Ground. Released recently, this hardcover brings together several macabre stories themed around obsession and persistence.
The Art of Junji Ito: Twisted Visions (Hardcover) – $19.72 (was $35)
Junji Ito’s artwork is instantly recognizable. This book collects over 130 images showcasing his talent, including color and black-and-white illustrations printed on high-quality pages. Covering works from Uzumaki to Tomie and beyond, the book also features commentary from Ito on his artistic process.

Junji Ito Anime
Like many other popular mangaka, Ito’s work has also been adapted for television with various anime series. Uzumaki was perhaps the most ambitious attempt to bring his work to life, and while it might not have lived up to expectations, the anime adaptation is still an effectively scary series.
Recently launched on Blu-ray, the Uzumaki Limited Edition Steelbook is available for $35 (originally $38). A standard Blu-ray edition is also available for $22.39. Both editions include bonus materials such as trailers, promotional videos, and an art gallery. Additionally, the Junji Ito Collection: The Complete Series Blu-ray, featuring all 24 episodes adapted from The Masterpiece Collection, Fragments of Horror, and Shiver short story collections, is currently on sale for $45.49 (down from its usual $65).
