At the recent Adobe Max 2025 event, the software giant Adobe unveiled an exciting collaboration with YouTube. This partnership positions Adobe’s Premiere app for iOS as the ultimate creative hub for anyone making YouTube Shorts. The app’s entire workflow has been optimized for short-form vertical video, allowing users to effortlessly import footage, edit it, and publish directly to their YouTube channels. This announcement also coincides with a wave of new artificial intelligence (AI) features rolled out across various Adobe platforms.

Adobe Premiere App Now a Go-To for YouTube Shorts Editing

Short, vertical-scrolling video content has completely transformed how we consume content on social media. Platforms like TikTok popularized this style, followed by Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, capturing the attention of countless creators and millions of viewers. Recognizing this trend, Adobe teamed up with YouTube to streamline and enhance the Shorts creation process.

Through this collaboration, Adobe is integrating a dedicated content creation area within the Premiere app. Here, creators will find not only the powerful existing video editing tools but also exclusive templates, transitions, and effects tailored specifically for Shorts. The intuitive interface will enable direct import and publishing of finished videos straight to the creator’s YouTube channel.

During the partnership announcement, Scott Silver, YouTube’s Vice President of Engineering, emphasized, “This collaboration with Adobe to weave YouTube Shorts into Premiere mobile offers creators more choices and advanced editing capabilities. It empowers them to produce content exactly as they envision, opening up fresh avenues to connect with their audience and reach new global viewers.” Ely Greenfield, Adobe’s Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Digital Media, joined Silver in introducing this initiative.

Soon, YouTube app users will spot an “Edit in Adobe Premiere” button, designed to seamlessly take them to Adobe’s iOS platform. Once there, they can select from a wide array of title presets, effects, and ready-to-use templates, and even share their own custom templates with other creators.

Furthermore, Adobe introduced a groundbreaking prompt-to-edit tool, enabling users to modify videos simply by typing text commands. This powerful feature leverages advanced ‘agentic’ AI capabilities across Photoshop, Firefly, and Express. The company also rolled out innovative Generate Soundtrack and Generate Speech tools, which can automatically add music tracks and voice-overs to uploaded video content.
