Former President Donald Trump recently lashed out at the immigration policies established during the Biden administration. His strong criticism comes after the horrific murder of an Indian-origin motel manager in Dallas, reportedly at the hands of an undocumented Cuban immigrant with a history of criminal offenses.
On his social media platform, Truth, Trump referred to the perpetrator as an “Illegal Alien” and argued that this individual should have been deported much earlier. He squarely placed the blame for this tragedy on what he perceives as the lax immigration policies of President Biden.
Trump declared, “Being soft on these Illegal Immigrant Criminals is OVER,” signaling a promise for tougher enforcement if he were to return to office.
The victim, 50-year-old Chandra Mouli “Bob” Nagamallaiah, who hailed from Karnataka, was brutally attacked with a machete on September 10 at the Downtown Suites Motel, where he both resided and was employed.
This horrific assault, which unfolded in front of his wife and 18-year-old son, has sent shockwaves and caused profound grief within the Indian-American community.
The 37-year-old suspect, Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, now faces charges of capital murder.
U.S. immigration authorities confirmed that Cobos-Martinez had been detained previously but was released in January 2025 because Cuba declined to accept his deportation back to his home country.
Nagamallaiah’s funeral was held on September 13 in Flower Mound, Texas, with close family and friends in attendance.
A fundraising effort launched to support Nagamallaiah’s family has successfully collected over $321,326. This tragic incident has reignited a crucial debate surrounding immigration enforcement and highlights the difficulties U.S. authorities encounter when foreign nations refuse to repatriate their citizens.
