US rapper Travis Scott made his highly anticipated India debut on Saturday, October 18, with his CIRCUS MAXIMUS tour. The concert, held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi, was advertised as ‘sold out.’ However, social media has been flooded with videos and accounts from attendees painting a starkly different picture, highlighting issues like empty seats, a seemingly disengaged audience, and frustratingly long wait times.
Audience Reactions and Concert Woes
One concertgoer shared a video expressing her disappointment, noting that she was the only one dancing amidst a subdued crowd. She commented, “Main akele vibe karke kkitna bacha paugi travis? Sach toh ye hai ki crowd of concert dono dead the (How much can I save you, dancing on my own? The truth is that the crowd and the concert were both dead).” She further added, “i already know he doesn’t wanna show up on 19th now.”
Her post garnered sympathetic comments from others, with one user saying, “Travis bhai ke liye bura lagrha (I am feeling bad for my brother Travis).” Another questioned the audience’s lack of energy, asking, “Hope Mumbai concert won’t be like this 😭 why tf people just standin’ there for whatttttt ?! Why’d they even bought the tix bruhhhhhhh, Someone who knows trav could’ve got em.”
Complaints about the extended waiting period were also prevalent. One attendee mentioned, “Girl ill be honest they kept us waiting too for like 4 hrs and we had no water in the silver it was good the most dead crowd was in the seating area.”
Another common sentiment echoed in comments on videos showing empty sections was: “Trust me….he’s not coming back ever again…dead crowd, half empty arena, people just know 2-3 songs….90% of the crowd is uni kids trying to fit in pop culture and they’re there to just make snaps and reels.” Some fans pointed out that organizers could have improved the experience by choosing a better date and preventing ticket scalping.
Adding to the frustration, one fan shared a video of himself dozing off in his seat due to the long wait for Travis Scott to perform.
Mixed Experiences: Standing Areas vs. Seating
Despite the widespread criticism, some attendees reported a more energetic atmosphere in the standing Gold and Silver areas. Videos have emerged showing mosh pits and fans actively enjoying Travis Scott’s performance, particularly during the track ‘FE!N.’ One comment suggested, “I hate to break it to you but silver standing was full rage idk what shi you been upto.”
To manage the event, over 3,400 personnel, including 1,600 private security staff and 1,200 to 1,800 Delhi Police officers, were deployed. Travis Scott is also scheduled to perform in Mumbai on November 19.
