A horrific multi-vehicle accident on the Kampala-Gulu Highway in Uganda has claimed the lives of 63 people, authorities confirmed on Wednesday. The collision occurred in the early hours of the morning when two buses, travelling in opposite directions, collided head-on while attempting to overtake other vehicles.
According to the Uganda Police Force, the tragic sequence of events began when one of the buses veered to avoid an initial crash, triggering a devastating chain reaction. This led to further head-on and side collisions, causing other vehicles to lose control and overturn.
The accident resulted in numerous fatalities and injuries among passengers and others involved. An investigation into the cause of the crash has been launched.
