A tragic boat capsize off the coast of Mozambique has claimed the life of Sreerag Radhakrishnan, a 35-year-old man from Naduvilakara, Thevalakkara, in Kollam. This somber news was confirmed by MP N.K. Premachandran on Monday, October 20, 2025.
Sreerag was one of two individuals, alongside 22-year-old Indrajith from Piravom, Ernakulam district, who went missing after their boat overturned on October 16. The vessel was carrying 21 people, including 14 Indian nationals, en route to the tanker MT Sea Quest for maintenance work near Beira port.
Mozambican authorities have officially confirmed Sreerag’s death, with his body recovered during extensive search operations. MP Premachandran reported that the body was found in a badly decomposed state, and assurances have been given that all necessary steps will be taken to facilitate its repatriation to India.
Meanwhile, the search for Indrajith is still actively underway, according to his anxious relatives. Sreerag’s family shared that he had only recently arrived in Mozambique on October 13. Having worked for a shipping company for seven years, he had returned home just six months prior for the birth of his son. The family is now awaiting further communication from the Indian High Commission regarding the procedures for bringing his remains back home.
