The creators behind the hit Malayalam superhero movie ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ have officially announced its sequel, with actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan unveiling a promotional video. This exciting new chapter will feature Tovino Thomas in the lead role, promising an expansion of the cinematic universe.
The teaser shows Tovino Thomas as Michael, a ‘Chathan’ (a goblin-like figure from Kerala folklore), in conversation with Dulquer Salmaan’s character, Charlie, a mysterious ninja-esque personality. Their dialogue hints at a deeper dive into the mystical elements rooted in Kerala’s rich traditional stories.
Michael is seen presenting a book titled ‘They Live Among Us’, emphasizing that its second chapter will focus on him. This suggests a significant shift from the first film, which centered on Neeli, played by Kalyani Priyadarshan. The sequel is poised to explore Michael’s journey and the enigmatic world of Chathans. Further intensifying the plot, Michael alludes to a formidable, dangerous brother, also portrayed by Tovino, and requests Charlie’s assistance should he face insurmountable challenges. The promotional video culminates in a face-off between Michael and his villainous sibling, strongly indicating a double role for Tovino Thomas in the upcoming movie.
Dominic Arun, who successfully helmed the first installment, returns to direct ‘Lokah Chapter 2’. The technical team includes Nimish Ravi as cinematographer, Jakes Bejoy for music composition, and Santhy Balachandran providing additional screenplay, with Chaman Chakko as the editor.
The original film, ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’, captivated audiences with Kalyani Priyadarshan’s portrayal of a Yakshi, a supernatural entity on a mission in Bengaluru. This action-packed fantasy also featured notable performances by Naslen, Sandy, and Chandu, with special cameo appearances by Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas. The blockbuster success of the first film, produced by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Movies, sets a high bar for its eagerly awaited continuation. Fans can anticipate an epic narrative steeped in folklore, combined with high-octane action and a compelling dual performance from Tovino Thomas.
