Fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on consoles will need to temper their expectations, as the highly anticipated final update, set to bring extensive mod support, has been officially delayed. This news comes after the game’s 10th-anniversary celebration earlier this year, where CD Projekt Red initially announced the groundbreaking feature.
The developers confirmed that the rollout for cross-platform mod support, which was originally slated for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S later this year, is now shifting to 2026. CD Projekt Red expressed their apologies for the postponement and assured fans that more details would be shared closer to the new release date.
While PC players have enjoyed a vast array of mods for years, this update aims to extend that experience to console gamers. Although there will be some technical and content limitations on which mods will be available, the majority are expected to be free and accessible once players link a mod.io account with the game.
In other Witcher-related news, a concert series celebrating the game’s iconic music began its U.S. tour this summer and will continue through October. Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red is actively working on The Witcher 4, though a release date remains unconfirmed. Fans can also look forward to The Witcher Season 4 on Netflix, premiering October 30, featuring Liam Hemsworth stepping into the role of Geralt.
