Tesla’s Model Y Long Range variant, recently launched in India, just got a significant boost in its travel capabilities. The electric vehicle giant, which entered the Indian market in July 2025 with two battery options, has now upgraded its fully loaded rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Model Y to achieve an impressive 661 kilometers on a single charge. This marks an increase of 39 kilometers from its previous 622 km (WLTP cycle) rating.
Beyond the extended range, this upgraded Model Y Long Range variant boasts a top speed of 201 kmph, ensuring a thrilling yet efficient driving experience.
Luxurious Interior and Advanced Features
Inside the cabin, the Model Y continues to impress with its premium offerings. Drivers and passengers will find a large 15.3-inch central touchscreen for intuitive control, along with ventilated and heated power-adjustable front seats for ultimate comfort. The rear seats are equally well-appointed, featuring heating and a two-way electric folding mechanism for added convenience.
Further enhancing the passenger experience, the SUV includes an 8-inch rear screen, a sophisticated 9-speaker sound system, elegant ambient lighting, and dedicated, electrically controlled air vents for both rows. A panoramic glass roof adds to the spacious and airy feel of the interior. For safety and convenience, the Model Y is equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems supported by eight external cameras.
Customization Options
The standard color for the Indian Model Y is a sleek Stealth Grey. However, buyers can personalize their vehicle with a selection of optional premium colors, including Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, Glacier Blue, Quick Silver, and Ultra Red. These exclusive paint options come at an additional cost of up to Rs 1.85 lakh, depending on the chosen shade. The interior, which comes standard in an all-black theme, can also be upgraded to a stylish dual-tone black-and-white finish for an extra Rs 95,000.
Competition and Warranty
In the competitive Indian market, Tesla’s Model Y faces formidable rivals in the premium EV segment, such as the Kia EV6, BYD Sealion 7, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo’s XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge. To instill confidence in its customers, Tesla provides a comprehensive 4-year or 80,000 km warranty for the vehicle. Additionally, the battery and drive unit are covered for an extended period of 8 years or up to 1,92,000 km, whichever milestone is reached first.
