A family in Alexandria, Virginia, is reeling from a frightening ordeal after three intruders, clad in Halloween masks, attempted to force their way into their home late at night. The incident, captured on a doorbell camera, has sent shockwaves through the community.
The terrifying event unfolded around 10 PM on Tuesday, October 14th. Security footage revealed three suspects wearing masks – one resembling the character Michael Myers, another a clown, and the third a nun. They aggressively pounded on the front door, demanding entry and issuing chilling threats. One intruder was heard saying, “It is either you come out or we come in.”
Inside the home were Shayla Whiteside, her mother, and her younger brother. Initially, Shayla mistook the commotion for a Halloween prank, even wishing them a “Happy Halloween.” However, the situation quickly escalated as the masked individuals refused to leave. Their aggression intensified, with the trio attempting to force entry through the front door and even moving to the back of the house, breaking through a wooden fence, damaging screens, and banging on windows with threats to harm the occupants.
Shayla recounted the harrowing experience, saying, “My heart dropped when they said they were going to take a chair and break down the door.” She emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, “They tried to come in. It is not even a joke gone wrong; they tried to come in.”
Alexandria Police Chief Tarrik McGuire has condemned the incident, confirming an active investigation is underway. He noted that the suspects made “threatening and alarming comments” and that they could face charges including burglary and criminal threats, which carry severe penalties under Virginia law.
The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle and are currently at large. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from the neighborhood to aid in identifying and apprehending them.
