In a perplexing act of vandalism, a group of teenagers targeted Halloween decorations across several homes in Auburn, Washington, during the night of Sunday, October 19th, and into Monday, October 20th. The destructive spree has left homeowners in the community disheartened and frustrated.
According to reports citing KIRO 7, surveillance cameras captured a white SUV believed to be involved in the incidents. The vandals specifically targeted inflatable decorations, slashing seven out of ten owned by resident Rob Goshorn, resulting in an estimated $1,000 loss. Goshorn expressed his bewilderment, stating, “It was like, senseless. Just stuff, it can be repaired. But I just don’t know why they would want to take anyone else’s happiness.”
Affected residents have taken to social media to share videos and photos of the damage, appealing for help in identifying the teenagers responsible. One video posted by Shane Smith shows two individuals damaging a 12-foot-tall skeleton, while another from Sol Mokler’s front door camera captured two boys smashing pumpkins. Mokler shared close-up shots of the alleged culprits, hoping for their identification to discuss the damage directly.
The Auburn Police Department is currently investigating the incidents. While some community members believe they recognize the individuals involved, there have been no official updates regarding any arrests or further progress in the investigation.
