The upcoming Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder might feature a surprise new playable character, as suggested by keen-eyed fans.
During a recent Nintendo Direct, a trailer for the Switch 2 version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder showcased the new Bellabel Park, a multiplayer area with competitive and cooperative minigames exclusive to this edition. A fan on social media, DynamoSuperX, noticed a vs minigame icon in the trailer around the two-minute mark. This icon featured an image of Yoshi alongside Rosalina, strongly hinting at her addition to the platformer’s upcoming re-release.
A video clip from the trailer further illustrates this potential character reveal.
Rosalina was not present in the original Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Nintendo previously confirmed that the Switch 2 Edition would include extra content, with more details to be unveiled later. This discovery suggests Rosalina could be one of the exciting new features Nintendo planned to reveal closer to launch.
Rosalina’s potential involvement aligns perfectly with Nintendo’s strong focus on the Super Mario Galaxy series. Recent announcements from the company’s Direct event included remastered versions of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 for release this year. Furthermore, the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel, set for April 2026, has been titled “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” Rosalina first appeared in the original Super Mario Galaxy in 2007, and fans can even purchase a physical storybook based on her in-game narrative.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder + Meet Up In Bellabel Park is expected to launch in 2026. This title joins a growing list of other popular Switch games, such as Super Mario Party Jamboree and Kirby and The Forgotten Land, which are also receiving enhanced ‘Switch 2 Editions’ featuring exclusive content.
