The wait is over for fans of both high-energy rock and sci-fi samurai action! Japanese rock band SUPER BEAVER has just unveiled the thrilling music video for their latest single, “Sanzen,” which serves as the powerful theme song for the brand-new anime film, “New Gintama the Movie: Yoshiwara in Flames.” The movie, a highly anticipated addition to the beloved Gintama franchise, recently premiered in Japan, much to the delight of its dedicated fanbase.
Not content with just one visual treat, the official Gintama franchise has also released a special collaboration music video. This unique cut combines SUPER BEAVER’s “Sanzen” with captivating footage directly from “New Gintama the Movie: Yoshiwara in Flames,” offering an even deeper dive into the film’s world set to the band’s dynamic sound.
Formed in 2005 by vocalist Ryuta Shibuya, guitarist Ryota Yanagisawa, bassist Kenta Uesugi, and drummer Hiroaki Fujiwara, SUPER BEAVER made their major debut in 2009. The band has become a household name among anime enthusiasts, celebrated for providing theme songs to an array of popular series, including “Naruto,” “Haikyu!!,” and “My Hero Academia.” “Sanzen” marks their exciting first contribution to the iconic Gintama anime series, a testament to their growing influence in the anime music scene.
“Sanzen” is featured on SUPER BEAVER’s recent double A-side single, which also includes “Ikigai” – the official Fuji TV Network support song for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. Released in Japan on February 11, the single immediately soared, landing at an impressive #4 on Oricon’s daily single charts on its very first day. The release was accompanied by various striking CD jacket designs, including time-limited production, first press limited, and regular editions, alongside new captivating artist photos.
“New Gintama the Movie: Yoshiwara in Flames” brings to life one of the most popular story arcs from Hideaki Sorachi’s original Gintama manga series. This particular arc, known as “Yoshiwara in Flames,” was previously adapted into episodes 139 to 146 of the television anime series, making its return to the big screen a significant event for long-time followers.
The film boasts a talented creative team, with Naoya Ando, known for his work on “Paradox Live THE ANIMATION,” at the helm as director. Yoichi Fujita, a series director for the Gintama franchise, is supervising the project at BN Pictures, ensuring its faithful and thrilling adaptation. Taku Kishimoto, celebrated for scripts in series like “Ranking of Kings” and “DON’T TOY WITH ME, MISS NAGATORO,” penned the screenplay. Character designs are expertly handled by Shinji Takeuchi, a familiar and welcome returnee from previous installments of the Gintama franchise.
For those unfamiliar with the sprawling universe of Gintama, the series plunges viewers into an alternate Edo Period Japan, where aliens have invaded and transformed society. Skyscrapers, trains, and motorbikes now coexist with traditional samurai life. At the heart of it all is Gintoki Sakata, also known as Yorozuya Gin-san, a man who, despite his often reckless demeanor, embodies the true soul of a samurai. Alongside his loyal companions, Gintoki navigates a world brimming with challenges, always ready to face whatever comes their way with his unique brand of resolve and humor.
