The Director General of Medical Education and Training (DGME) in Uttar Pradesh has announced a significant decision, barring 148 candidates from participating in the UP NEET PG counselling for the upcoming 2025-26 academic session. This stringent action follows the candidates’ failure to join their allotted MD and MS seats or their resignation from these seats during the stray vacancy and special stray vacancy rounds conducted in the previous year.
This step is a direct enforcement of the NEET PG admission guidelines, which clearly outline penalties for aspirants who either do not complete the admission process after being allotted seats or resign after the final counselling round. To ensure complete transparency, the DGME has made public two comprehensive lists, which include the names, roll numbers, NEET PG ranks, and the specific institutes that were initially assigned to the debarred candidates.
Penalties for Seat Withdrawal and Resignation
According to the admission regulations established last year, candidates who do not join their assigned seats during the stray vacancy round will face forfeiture of their security deposit. Furthermore, they will be disqualified from participating in the counselling process for the subsequent academic year. Similarly, students who choose to resign from their MD or MS seats after the final counselling round, without having completed the full course, are also strictly prohibited from applying in the following year’s admissions cycle.
An analysis of the debarred candidates shows that 59 individuals failed to join their seats despite allotment, while 89 chose to resign after their admission was confirmed. This rigorous enforcement highlights the DGME’s commitment to reducing seat wastage and ensuring a more efficient and fair utilization of the available medical seats across Uttar Pradesh.
Upcoming Counselling Schedule and Security Deposits
The DGME is anticipated to release the official schedule for the UP NEET PG counselling 2025 soon. All eligible candidates will be required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 3,000 to participate in the process.
The security deposit requirements, which vary based on the specific course and the type of institution, are as follows:
- Government Colleges: Rs 30,000 for MD, MS, Diploma, and DNB seats.
- Government and Private Medical Colleges: Rs 2 lakh for seats in both government and private institutions.
- Government and Private Dental Colleges: Rs 1 lakh for seats in these institutions.
This upcoming counselling will facilitate admissions for MD, MS, Diploma, DNB, and MDS courses across various government and private medical institutions throughout Uttar Pradesh. The DGME’s recent actions and the forthcoming schedule underscore its continued dedication to upholding fairness and discipline in the medical admission framework.
