Netflix has finally unveiled the thrilling trailer for Stranger Things Season 5, confirming that the grand finale will begin with Volume 1 premiering on November 26. Fans in the US and Canada will also have a chance to catch the premiere in select theaters.
The trailer picks up directly after the chaotic events of the previous season, with Hawkins reeling and nearly under military quarantine. Eleven is desperately seeking a way out of their predicament, while her friends prepare to confront the formidable Vecna, who appears intent on manipulating Will once more. It’s clear the stakes have never been higher for our favorite heroes.
According to the official synopsis, “the Hawkins crew are finally back together as they brace for their toughest challenge yet. With the town under military quarantine and Vecna unleashing fresh nightmares on our heroes, the stakes aren’t just raised — they’ve been turned Upside Down in this fifth and final season.”
Netflix Tudum further details the plot, revealing that “the series picks up in the fall of 1987. With Hawkins scarred by the opening of the Rifts at the end of Season 4, our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna.”
Co-creator Ross Duffer shared insights with Netflix, explaining, “What’s unique about this season is that it starts a little bit in chaos because our heroes ultimately lost at the end of Season 4. We usually set up their normal life and how they’re going about school, and then we introduce the supernatural element. But in this case, this season is sprinting from the start.”
The final season will be released in three parts: the first four episodes on November 26, three more episodes dropping on Christmas, and the climactic final episode arriving on New Year’s Eve. The series brings back its core cast, including Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, and Finn Wolfhard, for their most crucial roles yet.
