Exciting news for anime and film enthusiasts! The upcoming ‘Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway’ movie is set to feature a special guest voice appearance by popular actor Ryusei Yokohama. This marks Yokohama’s very first venture into anime voice acting, adding another layer of anticipation for fans. He will portray Kazuaki Omae, an automotive engineer who developed the cutting-edge ‘Angel’ police motorcycle, boasting advanced driving assistance systems. Omae encounters Conan and the gang at the Kanagawa Motorcycle Festival and later aids the police in their investigation of the enigmatic black motorcycle, dubbed ‘Lucifer,’ that mysteriously emerges in Tokyo. Despite his calm demeanor, Omae possesses an intense dedication to his research in driver assistance technology.
At 29, Yokohama started his career as a fashion model before transitioning into acting. His notable roles include appearances in the ‘Kamen Rider Fourze’ and ‘Ressha Sentai ToQger’ series. More recently, he co-starred in the 2025 kabuki-themed film ‘Kokuho,’ which achieved record-breaking success as the highest-grossing Japanese live-action film in history.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Yokohama shared, “I am profoundly honored to have this opportunity to challenge myself with ‘Detective Conan,’ a series cherished by generations for so long.” He continued, “Witnessing the TV anime’s voice-recording sessions left me utterly overwhelmed and deeply impressed by the voice actors’ ability to convey such depth and dimension purely through sound. I was incredibly grateful to have Minami Takayama-san (the voice of Conan Edogawa) present during my own session, offering invaluable advice. I believe I gave it my all! Prepare for exhilarating, high-speed action that pushes every boundary, all set against the backdrop of Yokohama!”
This highly anticipated 29th installment in the ‘Detective Conan’ anime film series, ‘Fallen Angel of the Highway,’ is slated for release in Japan on April 10, 2026. Fans can also look forward to another guest voice cast announcement soon. The film boasts a talented team, with Takahiro Hasui (known for ‘Mob Psycho 100 III’) directing, Takahiro Okura (‘Case Closed: The Million-dollar Pentagram’) penning the script, and Yugo Kanno (‘JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure,’ ‘PSYCHO-PASS’) composing the music, all under the production of TMS Entertainment. Based on Gosho Aoyama’s beloved manga, the ‘Detective Conan’ anime first graced screens in 1996 and now spans over 1,000 episodes.
The plot for ‘Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway’ promises a thrilling ride. Conan, Ran, Sonoko, Kogoro, and motorcycle enthusiast Masumi Sera find themselves at the Kanagawa Motorcycle Festival in Yokohama’s Minato Mirai district. Their day takes a dramatic turn when a mysterious black motorcycle seemingly leaps over their car. Trailing closely behind is Chihaya Hagiwara of the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Traffic Mobile Unit, a figure Ran recognizes as the ‘Goddess of the Wind.’ A high-octane car chase ensues, but Chihaya’s motorcycle is wrecked, allowing her target to escape.
Later, at the festival, Conan and his friends witness the unveiling of a revolutionary new police motorcycle, aptly named ‘Angel,’ equipped with cutting-edge technology. However, reports soon emerge of a rogue ‘black motorcycle’ creating chaos in central Tokyo, baffling the Metropolitan Police Department. Its purpose remains a mystery, but its design eerily mirrors the ‘Angel.’ The police quickly christen this dark counterpart ‘Lucifer’ and intensify their pursuit. Who is behind this enigmatic vehicle, and what are their intentions? Adding to the intrigue, Chihaya Hagiwara is haunted by memories of her younger brother, Kenji Hagiwara, and her colleague, Jinpei Matsuda. The stage is set for an epic showdown: the Wind Goddess (Angel) versus the Black Fallen Angel (Lucifer) in what’s poised to be the fastest battle mystery in the franchise’s history.
