Bollywood’s evergreen superstar, Amitabh Bachchan, is celebrating his 83rd birthday today, and the industry is buzzing with warm wishes. Among the many heartfelt messages, Shilpa Shirodkar, his co-star from the iconic film ‘Khuda Gawah’, shared a particularly touching and surprising revelation – she once harbored a secret desire to marry Big B!
In a touching birthday post on Instagram, Shilpa expressed her admiration for the actor, writing, “To the man I secretly wanted to marry when I was a fan, and the man who taught me so much as a co-star! 😊 Wishing a fantastic birthday to Amit ji! May you continue to light up our screens for many more years!❤️ @amitabhbachchan.” The post also featured two nostalgic photos from the sets of their 1992 film ‘Khuda Gawah’. One image captured a warm embrace between Shilpa and Amitabh, while the other showed Shilpa in a police uniform with Big B standing behind her.
A Look Back at ‘Khuda Gawah’
Directed by Mukul S. Anand, ‘Khuda Gawah’ featured Amitabh Bachchan in the powerful role of Baadshah Khan, an Afghan tribal warrior. The film also starred Sridevi in a dual role, alongside Nagarjuna, Shilpa Shirodkar, Danny Denzongpa, and Kiran Kumar. This epic drama narrates the story of Baadshah Khan’s intense love for Benazir, the daughter of a rival clan leader, after she bests him in a game of buzkashi. Their union is conditional: he must bring her the head of Habibullah, the man responsible for her father’s murder in India.
‘Khuda Gawah’ marked the third memorable collaboration between Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi, building on their previous successful films ‘Inquilaab’ (1984) and ‘Aakhree Raasta’ (1986).
