Scream Stars Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich Hint at Reunion in Five Nights At Freddy’s 2

Nearly thirty years after their iconic roles as Stu Macher and Billy Loomis in the classic horror film Scream, Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich are preparing for another on-screen reunion. This time, they’ll appear in the highly anticipated sequel, Five Nights At Freddy’s 2, building on the success of the 2023 video game adaptation. While Ulrich’s specific role remains a mystery, Lillard offered some intriguing hints during their recent joint appearance at Silver Scream Con.

Expressing his excitement, Lillard commented, ‘I am thrilled to have [Ulrich] in the community.’ He added, ‘I saw his performance this week. They’re gonna love it. He’s playing a great character. If the movie’s successful, hopefully he comes back.’ This suggests Ulrich’s role is significant and potentially recurring.

Ulrich reciprocated the sentiment, stating, ‘I always love spending time with Matt. He’s one of the greatest people I know, quite honestly. As you guys have experienced, he’s such a giving man. I always like spending time with him, and [Five Nights at Freddy’s 2] was no exception.’ Their mutual admiration adds a heartwarming layer to this reunion.

Lillard is set to return as William Afton, the sinister creator behind the deadly animatronic figures inhabited by the spirits of deceased children. At the convention, Lillard also dropped clues about Afton’s eventual transformation into Springtrap. He further explained his decision not to voice Springtrap in a certain video game crossover, linking it directly to the upcoming film.

Lillard clarified, ‘In… Dead by Daylight, the video game, they wanted me to do the Springtrap lines. I’m like, ‘I’m not doing Springtrap until I do Springtrap in the movie.’ So the only way I do Springtrap is that people go see the movie on December 5! And then we make a third.’ This playful ultimatum highlights his dedication to the film role and eagerness for a potential third installment.

The ensemble for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will see familiar faces returning, including Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt, Piper Rubio as Abby Schmidt, and Elizabeth Lail as Vanessa Afton. New additions to the cast include Mckenna Grace and Teo Briones, portraying paranormal hunters, alongside Wayne Knight in a yet-to-be-revealed capacity.

As Lillard confirmed, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 5.
