While Samsung has yet to officially confirm the Galaxy S26 series, a flurry of online leaks suggests a potential delay for its highly anticipated launch. The tech giant typically unveils its flagship smartphones, including the standard Galaxy S, Plus, and Ultra models, at its Galaxy Unpacked events in January or February each year. The upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup is expected to feature the powerful Exynos 2600 chipset.
Is the Galaxy S26 Series Launch Being Postponed?
According to a brief post by the well-known tipster Ice Universe on Weibo, Samsung has reportedly pushed back the launch of its Samsung Galaxy S26 series. However, the exact new release date remains unknown.
If the delay is minor, we might see the Galaxy S26 series debut in February instead of the usual January slot. This recent speculation follows another rumor that pointed to a possible March unveiling for the new Galaxy S26 phones.
Historically, Samsung has consistently launched its Galaxy S series in either January or February. For instance, both the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25 series were introduced in January of 2024 and 2025, respectively. Prior to that, the Galaxy S23 series made its appearance on February 1, 2023.
Furthermore, a recent report indicates that Samsung has decided to discontinue its new Galaxy Edge series, attributing this decision to the underwhelming sales performance of the Galaxy S25 Edge. As a result, the company is expected to revert to its traditional lineup next year, featuring the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra models.
Sources suggest that mass production for the Galaxy S26 lineup has already commenced. It’s anticipated that Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2600 chip will power about 50 percent of the Galaxy S26 units. Specifically, markets such as the US, Japan, and China are likely to receive Galaxy S26 models with Qualcomm chipsets, while regions like South Korea and Europe may get the Exynos variants.
Previously leaked details for the Galaxy S26 Ultra reveal a 6.9-inch M14 QHD+ CoE Dynamic AMOLED display. Storage options are rumored to include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The phone could boast an impressive quad-rear camera system, comprising a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel periscope lens, a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is also expected to feature a robust 5,000mAh battery with support for 60W wired fast charging, all within a sleek 7.9mm thick body.
