The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, launched in May, was touted as the slimmest device in the Galaxy S series, impressively thin at just 5.8mm. Positioned as the fourth model in the Galaxy S25 lineup, its successor, the Galaxy S26 Edge, has reportedly been cancelled. Samsung is said to be discontinuing its ‘Edge’ series due to disappointing sales, choosing instead to concentrate on a core flagship Galaxy S26 lineup, which will likely include the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Galaxy S25 Edge Sales Fail to Impress
According to a report from the South Korean publication Newspim, Samsung’s decision to halt its ultra-slim smartphone line, the Edge series, stems directly from the underwhelming sales performance of the Galaxy S25 Edge. The company’s sales figures reportedly fell short of internal expectations. Consequently, Samsung is expected to revert to its traditional release strategy in 2026, offering just three flagship models: the standard Galaxy S26, the larger Galaxy S26+, and the premium Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Sources indicate that Samsung has already informed its employees about the discontinuation of both the broader Edge series and specifically the Galaxy S26 Edge. The existing stock of the Galaxy S25 Edge, currently available in select markets, is anticipated to be sold off before the model is fully phased out.
Despite development for the Galaxy S26 Edge having reportedly been completed, there’s a slim chance it could still see a separate release at a later, unspecified date.
Prominent tech tipsters, including PhoneArt and Max Jambor, have also corroborated the news, asserting that Samsung has officially abandoned the Galaxy S26 Edge project due to the poor market reception of its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Edge.
An independent source confirmed: “Galaxy S26 Edge is definitely gone, 100% correct.”
This strategic shift comes just five months after the Galaxy S25 Edge hit the market in May, carrying a hefty price tag of Rs. 1,09,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. The Galaxy S25 Edge featured a 3,900mAh battery, a custom Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, a 6.7-inch display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate, and a dual rear camera system comprising a 200-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens. It measured 158.2×75.6×5.8mm and weighed 163g.
Interestingly, earlier rumors had suggested that the Galaxy S26+ might be discontinued, with the Galaxy S26 Edge poised to take its place within the flagship trio. However, the latest developments indicate a different path for Samsung’s 2026 lineup.
