Superstar Salman Khan’s latest film, Sikandar, may not have set the box office on fire and faced criticism from some critics, but Salman himself seems to have no regrets. He recently took a lighthearted jab at the film’s director, AR Murugadoss, who had commented on Khan’s alleged late arrivals during the shooting of Sikandar.
During the ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode of Bigg Boss 19, Salman was asked by comedian Ravi Gupta about films he regretted doing. Salman mentioned ‘Suryavanshi’ and ‘Nishchay’ from his earlier career. When pressed about recent films, he dismissed any regrets, even about Sikandar, stating the plot was strong.
This led Salman to address Murugadoss’s remarks, humorously stating in a sarcastic tone, “What happened was, I used to arrive on set by 9 PM, and that caused issues. My ribs were broken, this is what our director (AR Murugadoss) said.” He then playfully added that Murugadoss’s own recently released film, ‘Madharaasi,’ saw its actor arriving on set by 6 PM. Salman also alluded to Murugadoss and producer Sajid Nadiadwala trying to evade criticism for Sikandar’s performance, with both eventually moving on to other projects.
Murugadoss, in a previous interview, had cited the star’s late arrival as a factor in the film’s box office struggle. He mentioned that even daytime scenes had to be shot at night because the star wouldn’t arrive before 8 PM, which impacted the schedule, especially when working with child actors who would get tired by late-night shoots.
Sikandar, which told the story of Salman’s character Sanjay Rajkot and his mission to protect individuals who received organ donations from his late wife, reportedly had a budget of ₹200 crore but earned approximately ₹185 crore worldwide.
