Rolls-Royce, renowned globally for its luxury automobiles and advanced power systems across aerospace and defence, has officially inaugurated its newly expanded Global Capability and Innovation Centre in Bengaluru.
This cutting-edge facility is set to become Rolls-Royce’s largest capability hub worldwide. It will integrate vital global digital capabilities and enterprise services teams, alongside dedicated engineering teams supporting both Civil Aerospace and Defence sectors. The center is strategically positioned to bolster key global corporate functions across Rolls-Royce’s Civil, Defence, and Power Systems businesses.
This significant expansion is part of Rolls-Royce’s broader strategy to double its sourcing from India over the next five years, further integrating Indian suppliers into its extensive global supply chain.
Helen McCabe, Chief Financial Officer at Rolls-Royce plc, highlighted the importance of this development, stating, “India is crucial to Rolls-Royce’s worldwide journey of innovation and progress. This newly expanded Global Capability and Innovation Centre truly reflects our unwavering commitment to the country, solidifying its status as our largest capability hub.”
Ms. McCabe further elaborated, “We are eager to continue enhancing local capabilities, nurturing talent, and strengthening our partnerships within India. As we grow our presence, our focus remains firmly on cultivating a future-ready ecosystem where we can collaboratively create solutions with our teams and partners, delivering even greater value for our customers both in India and around the globe.”
During the inauguration, M.B. Patil, Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development for the Government of Karnataka, praised Rolls-Royce’s journey in India. “Rolls-Royce’s evolution in India, from licensed engine production with HAL to supporting India’s armed forces and now pioneering digital innovation and engineering excellence from Bengaluru, exemplifies a powerful narrative of trust, collaboration, and mutual advancement,” the Minister remarked.
Also present at the event was Ms. Lindy Cameron CB OBE, British High Commissioner to India.
Rolls-Royce is currently undergoing a multi-year transformation aimed at becoming a more agile, competitive, resilient, and growth-oriented enterprise. Its clear strategic decisions, including a determined effort to expand business in India, are already yielding strong financial results, enabling critical investments like this new Bengaluru centre.
Rolls-Royce boasts a rich 90-year legacy in India. Currently, over 1400 Rolls-Royce engines power diverse platforms within the Indian Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, and Army. The company’s vibrant ecosystem in India employs more than 3000 individuals, including 2000 highly skilled engineers who are vital contributors to global development programmes.
