Meta’s highly anticipated second generation of Ray-Ban smart glasses made their debut at the Meta Connect 2025 event. These new glasses, succeeding the 2023 model, come packed with major upgrades to both battery life and camera capabilities, alongside a broader selection of colors and frame designs. Users can now capture stunning videos and photos in crisp 3K resolution. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, introduced this next-gen Ray-Ban Meta line, also showcasing new augmented reality (AR) smart glasses called Meta Ray-Ban Display and Vanguard glasses specifically designed for athletes.
Price and Availability
The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 glasses start at a price of $379 (approximately Rs. 33,300). They are currently available for pre-order in key markets like Australia, the UK, and the US, as well as most other regions where the previous model was sold. Customers can choose from three distinct frame styles – Wayfarer, Skyler, or Headliner – with a total of 27 different combinations encompassing frames, colors, and lens types. Meta plans to launch these innovative wearables in India and Mexico later this year.
For those seeking specialized lenses, polarized options are priced at $409, while transition lenses will cost $459. The final price may vary further if prescription lenses are required.
Specifications and Features
While maintaining a familiar design from its predecessor, the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 smart glasses deliver notable improvements under the hood. The open-ear speakers have been upgraded for richer, more powerful audio, ensuring clear sound even in bustling environments. A five-microphone array, optimized for superior noise reduction, provides exceptional clarity for voice and video calls, as well as interactions with Meta AI.
The most significant enhancement is undoubtedly the battery life. Meta states that the Gen 2 glasses can last up to eight hours on a single charge with average use, effectively doubling the endurance of the first generation. This makes them ideal for extended activities, from all-day music festivals to outdoor adventures. The accompanying charging case further boosts convenience, offering a rapid charge that takes the glasses from zero to 50 percent in just 20 minutes and providing an impressive additional 48 hours of power.
The camera also sees a substantial upgrade. The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 now features a more advanced sensor, capable of recording 3K resolution videos at 30 frames per second for up to three minutes, or 30-second 3K videos at 60 frames per second. Photo capture remains at the previous generation’s 3,024 x 4,032p resolution. Looking ahead, Meta intends to introduce slow-motion and hyperlapse video modes to these AI-powered glasses later in the year.
New software functionalities have also been added. Mark Zuckerberg highlighted the new Conversation Focus feature, which intelligently uses the glasses’ open-ear speakers to amplify the voice of the person a user is speaking with in noisy surroundings. This feature will be available out-of-the-box on all new glasses and will arrive via an over-the-air (OTA) update for existing Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN models.
Furthermore, the live translation feature has been expanded to include German and Portuguese, making it accessible to a wider user base. Meta also announced plans for live translation across all six supported languages to work even in airplane mode, provided users download the necessary language packs beforehand.
